3 ways to Adjust Row Height in Excel

Excel has cells, which are framed as rows and columns in worksheets. Adjusting Row height in excel is one of the basic tasks. When you designed your report or create a dashboard you have to adjust the excel row height or column width frequently based on the cell contents.

For example, Suppose you are creating a dashboard, and for the header, you need the title text along with the company logo.  You have to adjust the height of the row to cover your logo in the title.

The first step is to click on the row number of the row you want to change.

For this example,

  1. You will click on row 4. Once you have clicked on the row number, you will notice the mouse changes to a resize icon. Hover your mouse over the bottom border of the row until you see a double-headed arrow.
  2. Click and hold the left mouse button, then drag the mouse up or down to change the row height.
  3. Release the mouse button when you are finished

Hover your mouse over the bottom border of row 4 until you see a double-headed arrow. Once you see the arrow, double-click the left mouse button

Now you can see the row auto adjust the height to cover the entire cell content

  1. Select the row or rows whose height you want to change. To select multiple rows, click on the first row you want to select, hold down the Shift key, and click on the last row you want to select.
  2. Select Home Tab.
  3. Choose Format
  4. Select Row Height, to open the Row Height dialog box
  1. Type desired height, in this example you type 30
  2. Press OK
